How does it help my community?  This is how Census data is used:

  • To allocate over $800 billion in federal funding.  An accurate count insures our community gets its fair share!
  • To determine the number of seats each state has in the U.S. House of Representatives.
  • Businesses use it to decide where to build factories, offices and stores, creating jobs.
  • Developers use the data to decide where to build new homes and revitalize old neighborhoods.
  • Local governments use the census for public safety and emergency preparedness.
