Archimedes Week 3—Advanced 3D Design Focusing on Movie Props

Archimedes Week 3—Advanced 3D Design Focusing on Movie Props

This summer, the Alameda County Library offering a series of classes focusing on solving real-world problems using 2D, 3D design and wearable electronics.  In addition to the technical skills, these classes will emphasize the creative problem-solving and lifelong learning skills that Fremont advanced manufacturing employers are requesting.  The classes build towards two final week-long classes working with companies and nonprofits to solve real-world challenges they are facing.

In Advanced 3D Design Focusing on Movie Props, students will focus on more advanced 3D design specifically on the practical applications of how to create movie props, including Thor’s axe Stormbreaker, Thor’s hammer Mjolnir and an object you design (it’s okay if it’s not a prop).    We will then create the objects using 3D printers. This class will include lectures, hands on instruction, and then specific challenges designed to increase confidence and competence in practical design skills and creative problem-solving.

  • The class is one week long and meets Monday through Friday from 1 PM to 4 PM.
  • All high schoolers are welcome to participate in the class.
  • Students need to have taken an Introduction to 3D design using Fusion 360 through the library, a similar class, or otherwise demonstrate proficiency to apply.
