AARP Tax Preparation
AARP provides free tax preparation for everyone from February 2 until April 13, except March 16 (St. Patrick's Celebration).
Registration is required. To make an appointment, call the Information Desk, (510) 608-1102, when the library is open.
Items to bring to the TCE tax return preparation site
Proof of identification - include a photo ID and ONE of the following:
1. Social Security Cards for you, your spouse, and dependents and/or a Social Security Number verification letter issued by the Social Security Administration
2. A Social Security Benefit Statement Form 1099-SSA or RRB-1099
3. A Prior Year Tax Return
4. An IRS letter assigning an ITIN
5. A Federal or State issued Employee W2 or 1099
Birth dates for you, your spouse if married, and dependents on the tax return
Income statement(s) Form W-2, W-2G, 1099-R, 1099-G, 1099-misc from all sources
Interest and dividend statements (Forms 1099) and/or equivalent broker statements (1099-B)
Any forms showing Federal or State income tax paid
A copy of SSA-1099 if receiving Social Security benefits
Any costs for dependent care including name, employer ID, address of care
All receipts or canceled checks if itemizing deductions
A copy of last year’s Federal and State returns if available
Real Estate Property Tax Statement for all taxes paid in 2018 (usually two statements)
Blank check for Bank Routing Numbers and Account Numbers for Direct Deposit of refund
